Desperate Housewives actress cast in second season of Criminal Minds: Evolution

A Desperate Housewives actress will play a ghost from the past in season two of Criminal Minds: Evolution on Paramount+.

Criminal Minds: Evolution is a continuation of the series that ran on CBS from 2005 to 2020. In the first season on Paramount+, the FBI's elite team of criminal profilers faced their biggest threat yet, an UnSub who used the pandemic to build a network of other serial killers. When the world opened up again and the network became operational, the team was tasked with hunting them down, one kill at a time.



Felicity Huffman (pictured) guest stars as Dr. in season two. Jill Gideon, a brilliant biological psychiatrist who also happens to be the ex-wife of Mandy Patinkin's Jason Gideon from the early years of Criminal Minds.

Although she agrees to help the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit investigate a murderous conspiracy theory, Jill is reluctant to return to the FBI's elite team given her complicated history. However, she soon realizes that her specific skills can help them find yet another clue to the elusive Gold Star mystery.

Viewers never met Gideon's wife during the years Patinkin played him on Criminal Minds. Patinkin left the CBS series after 47 episodes; his character was killed off-screen by an UnSub.

In Criminal Minds: Evolution, the cast includes Joe Mantegna, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Aisha Tyler, Zach Gilford, Ryan-James Hatanaka with Adam Rodriguez and Paget Brewster. The series is produced by ABC Signature and CBS Studios.

Huffman played the role of Lynette Scavo on eight seasons of Desperate Housewives. She also had roles in ABC's American Crime anthology series, EPIX's Get Shorty and Netflix's When They See Us.
