Game of Thrones prequel series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms gets premiere window

We get some more information about the latest Game of Thrones spin-off A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight.

During a meeting of Warner Bros. Discovery last Friday with investors and the media, CEO David Zaslov revealed that the prequel series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight is currently in pre-production and will premiere "in late 2025."

The series was ordered in April 2023 and is based on the Dunk & Egg fantasy novels by George R.R. Martin. Martin and Ira Parker will write and executive produce. House of the Dragon co-creator/executive producer/showrunner Ryan Condal and Vince Gerardis will also executive produce.

"A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes roamed Westeros... a young, naive but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg," the logline reads. “At a time when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet been erased from living memory, great destinies, mighty enemies and dangerous exploits await these unlikely and incomparable friends.”

HBO CEO Casey Bloys revealed in November that production on the latest prequel will start this spring. Production on A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms was halted in May for the duration of Hollywood's double strike.

The prequel series' debut follows the start of season two of Game of Thrones spinoff House of the Dragon in summer 2024.

Set 172 years before the events of Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon tells the story of House Targaryen.

The film stars Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D'Arcy, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, Sonoya Mizuno and Rhys Ifans.
