Miss Scarlet is currently filming its fifth season in Belgrade, Serbia. Durant Pritchard (photo below) plays Alexander Blake, a handsome ex-soldier and respected detective detective who joins Scotland Yard as a replacement for William 'The Duke' Wellington, who has left for America.
Shortly after starting his new job, he meets private investigator Miss Eliza Scarlet (Kate Phillips). He's not really shocked by a woman working as a private investigator, so Eliza sees this as a sign that she'll get more business. But their relationship gets off to a rocky start because Blake has decided that private investigators are not allowed to assist in his investigations.
When Blake and Miss Scarlet cross paths at various crime scenes in London, they can't help but develop a mutual respect for each other, and perhaps even an attraction.
“I am thrilled to be joining the team and to become part of the Scarlet family,” Durant Pritchard said in a statement. “Working with Kate has been a dream and she’s been so welcoming.”
In February, it was announced that Stuart Martin, who played William 'The Duke' Wellington in the previous four seasons, will not return for season five. The series was given a new name: Miss Scarlet.
Martin said at the time: "It has been such an incredible pleasure to bring Duke to life through Rachael's beautiful, brilliant writing and to play him over the last four years. But it felt like the time was right for Scarlet to bring new stories and challenges as the series continues to grow and evolve. I will miss working with my amazing partner in crime Kate and the rest of our brilliant family and team, but I'm excited to continue following Eliza and her escapades as a huge fan and newly registered Scarleteer!"
Durant Pritchard's previous roles include Netflix's The Crown, BBC's Taboo (2017) and BBC's This Is Going to Hurt.
