Catastrophic Train Derailment in Promo for 9-1-1: Lone Star Season Five

A catastrophic train derailment unleashes a "poison cloud of death" in the promo for 9-1-1: Lone Star season five.

"Dispatch, we have a problem." That's putting it mildly. We're getting our first look at season five of 9-1-1: Lone Star, and it promises to be devastating for Austin's 126, led by Rob Lowe's Captain Owen Strand.

Fox has released the first promo for season five, which debuts Monday, September 23rd on the network and the following day on Hulu.

9-1-1: Lone Star

Speculation is still rife that the 12-episode fifth season will be the series' last, but the promo gives no indication of that. That speculation was accelerated when we learned that series regular Sierra McClain quietly left the show after a drama surrounding cast renegotiation.

In the upcoming fifth season, Captains Strand (Lowe) and Vega (Gina Torres) join the 126 team when a catastrophic train derailment puts several lives in danger, including their own. Judd (Jim Parrack) resigns from the 126 to care for his disabled son, Wyatt (Jackson Pace). Owen must find a new lieutenant to replace Judd and faces a difficult decision when both Marjan (Natacha Karam) and Paul apply for the promotion. Tommy is ready to take the next step in her relationship, but she discovers that the road to happiness is full of obstacles.

On his 30th birthday, T.K. receives a surprise visit from someone from his past that could change his and Carlos’s lives forever. Now officially husband and wife, T.K. and Carlos’ marriage is tested when Carlos becomes obsessed with solving his father’s murder.

9-1-1: Lone Star follows the members of Austin’s 126th Fire Department, led by Captain Owen Strand (Lowe), who, along with his adult son T.K. (Ronen Rubinstein), relocated to Texas to help rebuild the firehouse that had itself suffered a tragedy.

His team of diverse and qualified first responders includes widowed Paramedic Captain Tommy Vega (Torres); Judd Ryder (Parrack), who was the sole survivor of Austin’s original 126 house after a rescue call ended in tragedy; Marjan Marwani (Karam), an adrenaline junkie and badass firefighter who is also a devout Muslim; Paul Strickland (Brian Michael Smith), a transgender male firefighter who bravely decided to transition while working in Chicago and has a talent for observation worthy of Sherlock Holmes; and rookie firefighter Mateo Chavez (Julian Works).

T.K. settled into his new home and caught the attention of police officer Carlos Reyes (Rafael Silva). The two began a romantic relationship and eventually married in the season four finale. T.K. hung up his fire helmet to become a full-time paramedic under Tommy’s tutelage and works closely with colleague Nancy Gillian (Brianna Baker).

9-1-1: Lone Star is produced by 20th Television in association with Ryan Murphy Television and Brad Falchuk Teley-Vision. Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear are the creators, executive producers and writers of the series.

Bradley Buecker is the executive producer and directed the series premiere episode. Alexis Martin Woodall, Rashad Raisani, John J. Gray, Angela Bassett, Rob Lowe, Carly Soteras and Wolfe Coleman are the executive producers.
