Jessica Capshaw to star opposite Chris O'Donnell in 9-1-1: Nashville

Jessica Capshaw is back saving lives on ABC in spinoff 9-1-1: Nashville.
Grey's Anatomy actress Jessica Capshaw (pictured) has joined 9-1-1: Nashville, where she will star opposite Chris O'Donnell. Details about her role are being kept under wraps for now. ABC and 20th Television, which produces the series, declined to comment.

ABC gave 9-1-1: Nashville a straight-to-series order in February, making it the third series in Ryan Murphy Television's 9-1-1 franchise. ABC renewed the original series for a ninth season in March (and a third on the network after six on Fox), while 9-1-1: Lone Star, set in Austin, Texas, wrapped up its six-season run on Fox in February.

O'Donnell will play Captain Don Sharpe, who runs Nashville's busiest fire station with his son -- and is also a rodeo rider. Other details about the series, beyond the broad outline of the series that follows first responders in the Tennessee city, are also being kept under wraps, as is typical with many of Murphy's shows.

Capshaw starred on Grey's Anatomy for 10 seasons as Dr. Arizona Robbins and made a guest appearance in the show's 20th season last year. Other television roles include Hulu's Tell Me Lies and ABC's The Practice.
