9-1-1 has been renewed for an eighth season by ABC

In addition to Grey's Anatomy, which we reported on earlier today, 9-1-1 has also been renewed by ABC for a new season.

The launch of 9-1-1 season seven in March delivered a cumulative viewership of 11.76 million viewers in its first seven days and was the series' most-watched multiplatform broadcast in nearly two years among adults 18-49. It was a tribute to the disaster thriller The Poseidon Adventure.

The drama is ABC's most-watched series across all platforms this season.

9-1-1

9-1-1 was created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear and is produced by 20th Television, a division of Disney Television Studios, in association with Ryan Murphy Television and Brad Falchuk Teley-Vision.

9-1-1 moved to ABC after six seasons on Fox, where it was consistently one of the most-watched programs. It now fits nicely into ABC's Thursday lineup with Grey's Anatomy and Station 19, both of which are doing well for the Disney channel. This week's new episode marks the 100th episode of the series.

Murphy now has two series on ABC after Dr. Odyssey with Joshua Jackson was acquired. As the title suggests, Dr. Odyssey a medical series set on a cruise ship.
