Today SkyShowtime unveils the official trailer for the new eight-part series A Gentleman in Moscow. The limited series starring Emmy Award winner Ewan McGregor is based on the bestseller by Amor Towles.
The story follows Count Alexander Rostov (McGregor) who discovers in the aftermath of the Russian Revolution that his gilt-edged past places him on the wrong side of history. He is spared immediate execution, but is banished by a Soviet tribunal to an attic room in the opulent Hotel Metropol with the risk of execution if he ever sets foot outside again.
As the years pass and some of the most tumultuous decades in Russian history unfold outside the hotel's doors, the constraints of Rostov lead him into a much larger world of emotional discovery. He tries to build a new life within the walls of the hotel and discovers the true value of friendship, family and love.
The series premieres exclusively on SkyShowtime on Thursday, April 18, with the first three episodes available at launch.
In addition to McGregor, Mary Elizabeth Winstead can be seen as the glamorous film actress Anna Urbanova, who owes her fame entirely to herself, Alexa Goodall as Nina, a surprising young friend of the Count, Johnny Harris as a conflicted secret agent Osip and Fehinti Balogun as Mishka, the Count's best friend from college.
The cast also includes Leah Harvey, Paul Ready, John Heffernan, Lyès Salem, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson, Dee Ahluwalia, Anastasia Hille, Daniel Cerqueira, Leah Balmforth, Billie Gadsdon and Beau Gadsdon.
A Gentleman in Moscow is produced by Lionsgate Television in association with Paramount. Ben Vanstone serves as executive producer and showrunner of the series.
It is the first production through Lionsgate's first-look deal with Tom Harper's company Popcorn Storm Pictures. Harper also serves as executive producer alongside Ewan McGregor, Sharon Hughff, Pancho Mansfield, Moonriver TV's Xavier Marchand and Amor Towles, author of the original New York Times bestseller list.
BAFTA Award-winning director and Emmy nominee Sam Miller directs several episodes and serves as executive producer. Sarah O'Gorman also acts as director.
The series is distributed by Paramount Global Distribution.
