The streamer has acquired the rights in the US and most territories excluding the UK, Ireland, Germany, Australia and New Zealand. The series is in post-production and will air later this year.
Adapted from Red Rose scribe Poppy Cogan and directed by Dolly Wells and Tom Vaughan, A Good Girl's Guide to Murder follows Pip Fitz-Amobi (Myers) as he investigates the death of a schoolgirl five years ago. Andie Bell was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend Sal Singh, but clever Pip isn't so sure and she's determined to prove it.
Zain Iqbal, Anna Maxwell Martin, Gary Beadle, Mathew Baynton, India Lillie Davies, Rahul Pattni, Henry Ashton, Mitu Panicucci, Orla Hill, Ephraim O.P. Sampson, Carla Woodcock, Yasmin Al-Khudhairi, Jessica Webber, Jackson Bews, Matthew Khan, Georgia Aaron, Oliver Wickham, Adam Astill, Annabel Mullion, Jude Morgan-Collie, Raiko Gohara, Asha Banks and Yali Topol Margalith also star.
Holly Jackson's original novel was a bestseller and has spawned two sequels, and Jackson is an executive producer on the TV version.
A number of US networks and streamers were interested in A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, including The CW, and it took several months for negotiations to be finalized.
The worldwide popularity of Wednesday, in which Myers plays Enid Sinclair, has been a boon for seller BBC Studios. The German ZDFneo co-produces with Netflix and the series is produced by The Gentlemen co-producer Moonage Pictures.
“As soon as we said the name, Holly told us that deep down this was who she had in mind,” Moonage co-founder Matthew Read recently revealed when talking about Myers’ casting.
A Good Girl's Guide to Murder is executive produced by Read, Matthew Bouch and Frith Tiplady for Moonage, with Lucy Richer and Danielle Scott-Haughton for the BBC, Jonas Melcher for ZDFneo and Wells, Jackson and Cogan. Florence Walker produces. Zia Ahmed, Ajoke Ibironke and Ruby Thomas are writers and Cogan is head writer.
