All American: Homecoming season three gets a start date

The CW has set a start date for the third season of All American: Homecoming.

All American: Homecoming is set against the backdrop of the HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) experience at Bringston University, where Black Excellence is a way of life. The series follows Simone (Geffri Maya), a young tennis prospect from Beverly Hills, and her close circle of chosen family as they experience the highs, lows and sexuality of coming of age unsupervised at the prestigious HBCU.

In season three, Simone deals with the consequences of the romantic choice she made in season two, but the romantic drama takes a back seat when her tennis ambitions are threatened.

Her friends have her back, especially Thea (Camille Hyde), the team's former Queen Bee, who now wants to make her mark on the pro circuit. JR (Sylvester Powell) struggles to get his life back on track after being fired from KEK and completing treatment for aplastic anemia.

Meanwhile, Coach Marcus (Cory Hardrict) deals with the unforeseen consequences of his wife's return, Lando (Martin Bobb-Semple) forges new bonds with the group of friends and becomes a regular at the 'family dinner' and Cam (Mitchell Edwards) , Keisha (Netta Walker) and Nate (Rhoyle Ivy King) all struggle to balance their romantic relationships with their chosen careers with varying degrees of success.

The CW has set Monday, July 8, for the start of season 3 of All American: Homecoming.

In addition, the network has confirmed that All American (2018) will add two additional episodes to the current sixth season, expanding the series to fifteen episodes. Season six concludes with the season finale on Monday, July 15.

All American: Homecoming is produced by Warner Bros. Television and CBS Studios in association with Berlanti Productions and Rock My Soul Productions, with executive producers Nkechi Okoro Carroll, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Robbie Rogers, Marqui Jackson and Lindsay Dunn.

As Nellie Andreeva previously reported, both All American (2018) and All American: Homecoming remain in the running for new seasons under new owners Nexstar.

Additionally, The CW has also set the start date for season two of 61st Street. The second season of the dramatic thriller starring Courtney B. Vance and Aunjanue Ellis will debut Monday, July 22.
