Based on James Herriot's beloved short story collection, each season will consist of six episodes plus Christmas specials.
Over the next few seasons we return to Darrowby with the unconventional and much-loved Skeldale Family and the motley crew of farmers, animals and villagers who lived in the Yorkshire Dales in the 1940s. Filming will take place on location in Yorkshire for both seasons five and six.
In season five, Callum Woodhouse returns as Tristan Farnon. Nicholas Ralph as veterinarian James Herriot and Samuel West as his quicksilver mentor Siegfried Farnon also return in the fifth season.
Other actors returning include Anna Madeley as the matriarch of Skeldale House, Mrs. Hall, along with Rachel Shenton as the charismatic Helen Herriot. James Anthony-Rose also reappears as Richard Carmody. Patricia Hodge also returns as the wonderfully refined Mrs Pumphrey and her adored Pekingese Tricki. Callum Woodhouse reprises his role as Tristan Farnon, Siegfried's mischievous brother who served in the Royal Army Veterinary Corps, when he makes an unexpected return later in the season.
All Creatures Great and Small (2020) is a Playground production for Channel 5 and Masterpiece in collaboration with All3Media International.
