Drama series All Rise canceled for the second time

OWN closes Judgea Carmichael's room. The cable channel has canceled the series All Rise, so there will not be a fourth season.
The legal drama series All Rise stars Simone Missick, Wilson Bethel, Jessica Camacho, J. Alex Brinson, Ruthie Ann Miles, Lindsay Mendez, Lindsey Gort and Marg Helgenberger. Samantha Marie Ware, Paul McCrane and Suzanne Cryer also star.

The first half of the third season aired last summer. Now, a year later, the rest of the episodes have been given a return date.

All Rise

The series follows the chaotic, hopeful (and sometimes absurd) world of people who work in a Los Angeles courthouse. Lola Carmichael (Missick), an appointed judge who was previously a highly regarded and impressive Deputy District Attorney, takes center stage in this drama series. She depends on the advice of people like her best friend, Deputy District Attorney Mark Callan (Bethel), Judge Lisa Benner (Helgenberger), and pragmatic justice assistant Sherri Kansky (Miles).

She works alongside professionals such as attorney Emily Lopez (Camacho), bailiff Luke Watkins (Brinson), court reporter Sara Castillo (Mendez), attorney Amy Quinn (Gort), paralegal Vanessa "Ness" Johnson (Ware), judge Jonas Laski (McCrane ) and Deputy District Attorney Maggie Palmer (Cryer). Lola pushes her boundaries and challenges the expectations of what a judge can be, receiving both support and opposition from those around her.

The first two seasons of All Rise aired on CBS before the network canceled the series. OWN then revived the series for a 20-episode third season, likely hoping to attract a larger audience than usual. The first ten episodes aired last summer to mediocre ratings, with no word on when the remaining episodes would see the light of day.

OWH has now announced that season three will resume on Saturday, September 16. The decision to cancel the series is not very surprising, as the cast's options expired last March.

“We are extremely proud of the positive impact All Rise has made in showcasing strong, accomplished Black female characters,” OWN President Tina Perry said. “We are so grateful to all of our creative collaborators and wish to thank the talented cast and crew for their dedication and incredible work on the series.”
