The streaming service dropped a photo on Wednesday on the series' official Instagram account showing the Grammy Award winner throwing a peace sign while on location.
"To something ominous on set," Smith (pictured) responded to the photo (referring to his hit Unholy) on Wednesday.
The series has done a good job of keeping secrets about the series' second season following the big (!!) news of John Corbett's return as fan-favorite Aidan Shaw. And while the casting news is taking a back seat, there's plenty of photographic evidence of what girls Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte (Kristen Davis) have been up to since we last saw them.
Carrie falls in love with Aidan all over the Big (!!) Apple, but is it for real this time? Deadline can confirm that it's not all one big dream sequence, but there's still a lot to unravel about how they got here.
In the first season, Carrie's 'great love' Mr. Big (Chris Noth) suffered a heart attack and the writer slowly and reluctantly brought herself back into the dating scene. We don't know what Aidan has been up to since the second Sex and the City movie, when he was still married to his furniture designer Kate and the mother of his children, Tate (aka Tater), and his brothers Homer and Wyatt. Does Michael Patrick King also kill poor Kathy? Or maybe she and Steve (David Eigenberg), who are divorced and not ready to move on, meet at a local Love Anonymous group and bond?
Miranda hung out with the girls in New York, without seeing Che (Sara Ramirez). The last time we saw the duo, they were on their way to Los Angeles where Che was working on the pilot for a television series. Deadline revealed in October that Tony Danza would play Che's father in the sitcom. The status of their relationship is still unknown.
Nixon himself has spent more time behind the scenes directing the series. She directed episode six of the first season titled 'Diwali' and will be doing double shifts in season two as well.
Charlotte is still busy being fabulous and juggling her duties as a mother, wife and best friend with an ever-expanding group of friends. The Upper East Side gang of influencers she and Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker) built up last season still seems to be going strong. And with everything going on, she still finds time to enjoy the beauty of art in galleries reminiscent of the early years of the original series where she got her start.
That said, wich character will be portrayed by Smith? Could it be a love interest for Anthony (Mario Cantone) whose hubby - SATC icon Stanford Blatch (RIP Willie Garson) - left him to represent an influencer in Japan? Everything is possible. As Deadline previously reported, there are no plans to remove Stanford from the universe.
