Kim Cattrall will appear in season two of And Just Like That… Cattrall will reprise her role as Samantha Jones in the new season of the Sex and the City sequel series.
There are no details about the storyline, but we learned that she will make a brief cameo in the second season finale. At the initiative of HBO/Max executives, her scene took place in a car and was filmed near the end of season two production in New York in March, sources confirm to Deadline. Cattrall did not interact with the And Just Like That… cast or showrunner Michael Patrick King.
Cattrall's (pictured) cameo was meant to be a one-off, but the door is open for more if the series gets a third season, the sources said.
In addition to Samantha in Sex and the City, Cattrall also played the character in the two Sex and the City sequels.
The last time fans saw Samantha Jones was in Sex and the City 2, the feature film where the ladies went to Abu Dhabi. When And Just Like That… was announced, Cattrall was missing, who had a public feud with the franchise's star and executive producer Sarah Jessica Parker. Samantha's absence from the group was explained as she had a falling out with Carrie and eventually moved to London.
Throughout the first season of the HBO/Max sequel, Samantha was talked about and even connected with Carrie after the death of Carrie's husband, Mr. Big. The two were even texting and making plans to reunite in Paris when the latter went to pour Big's ashes into the Seine.
Season two of And Just Like That… premieres Thursday, June 22 on HBO/Max.
Cattrall received five Emmy nominations for her role as Samantha in Sex and the City. She currently stars with Robert De Niro in Lionsgate's About My Father, and plays a makeup mogul in Netflix's Glamorous, which also premieres Thursday, June 22.
