Sara Ramirez will not be seen in the third season of And Just Like That...

Sara Ramirez's time is over in the Sex and the City spin-off series And Just Like That… on HBO Max.

By the end of season two, Ramirez's character, Che Diaz, and Miranda Hobbs (Cynthia Nixon) had broken up for good and had both moved on to explore new relationships. A source close to production revealed last month that Che's story had been wrapped up and that Ramirez would not return for season three.

Since Che has a strong friendship with Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), the character could essentially appear again in the future. HBO Max declined comment in January and again for this story.



Earlier this year, the Daily Mail claimed Che was being eliminated due to Ramirez’s pro-Palestine social media posts, but sources revealed that was false. Ramirez seemingly responded to the news with an Instagram post shared a day later that read, “Don’t let the tabloids distract you from what’s happening in Gaza. Really nice try, though.”

Ramirez starred for two seasons on And Just Like That… as Che, a non-binary stand-up comedian, writer and podcast producer who worked with Carrie during her transition from newspaper columnist to sex podcast star. Che met Miranda through Carrie and there was an immediate connection. An affair began, followed by Miranda and Steve (David Eigenberg) breaking up and an eventual divorce.

Leaving her past behind, Miranda followed Che to Los Angeles in season two, where they filmed a pilot for a series they hoped to develop starring Tony Danza as their father. When that flopped, the couple returned east, where things fell apart and their romance ended. Che was unemployed and found work at a veterinary clinic where they met someone else.

Although Ramirez and Nixon's characters did not have a long-term romantic relationship, the two remain close friends. The first shared photos via Instagram on Sunday evening of Nixon, who can be seen on Broadway in The Seven Year Disappear by Jordan Seavey and directed by Scott Elliott.
