Kim Cattrall shuts down rumors about returning to And Just Like That...

Unfortunately for Samantha Jones fans, lightning doesn't strike twice. Kim Cattrall has politely broken the news that she will not be reprising her iconic Sex and the City character in the third season of And Just Like That…, despite her brief cameo last year in the season two finale.



After Life & Style reported earlier this month that Cattrall (pictured) has signed a deal for season three, the actress set the record straight: "It Looks Like #KimCattrall (aka Samantha Jones) Will Be Back For And Just Like That… Season 3 After All!" one headline read, aka “Looks like #Kim Cattrall (aka Samantha Jones) is returning for And Just Like That… Season 3 after all!”. Cattrall then responded with, “Aw that's so nice, but I'm not doing that.”

Cattrall played sexually committed publicist Samantha Jones during the six seasons from 1998 to 2004 of the original HBO series and the film adaptations that hit theaters in 2008 and 2010.

After opening up about her differences with co-lead actress Sarah Jessica Parker behind the scenes, Cattrall opted not to reunite with Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis in And Just Like That…, which premiered in 2021.

Cattrall delighted fans with a short appearance by Samantha in the season finale of August last year. The scene showed the character in the backseat of a car, during a phone call with Carrie Bradshaw (Parker), without the two actresses ever being in the same room.

The British-Canadian actress revealed one of her conditions for returning to the show as she appeared on The View last June. “It’s very interesting to get a call from the head of HBO saying, ‘What can we do?'” she said.

“And I went, ‘Hmm… Let me get creative,'” Cattrall continued. “And one of those things was to get [costume designer] Pat Field back because I just thought that if I’m going to come back I gotta come back with that Samantha style, I gotta push it and we did.”

Field, the costume designer on the original series, was busy working on Darren Star's other series Emily in Paris. Her former Sex and the City protégés Molly Rogers and Danny Santiago have replaced her on the revival.

Season three of And Just Like That… is currently filming in New York City and is expected to launch on HBO Max in 2025.
