Masterpiece shares trailer for second season of crime series Annika

Nicola Walker (Unforgotten) returns for an all-new season of Annika, a police procedural that follows a homicide detective in Scotland.

The six-part season premieres Sunday, October 15 on Masterpiece on PBS. Walker plays the role of DI Annika Strandhed, the head of Glasgow's Marine Homicide Unit who is drifting around on a speedboat when she's not busy raising an unruly teenage daughter.

Walker teams up with DS Michael McAndrews (Jamie Sives, Guilt (2019), Frontier (2016)) and DC Blair Ferguson (Katie Leung, The Peripheral, Roadkill (2020)), an expert in forensics, and DS Tyrone Clark (Ukweli Roach, Blindspot, Grantchester), a new agent on the station. Kate Dickie (Game of Thrones, Marvel's Loki) Silvie Furneaux (Red Rose, Vigil) and Paul McGann (Doctor Who, Luther) also played roles in the first season.

Annika

Here's the plot for the first episode of season two: "Annika follows sharp, witty and enigmatic DI Annika Strandhed as she leads the specialized Marine Homicide Unit (MHU) tasked with investigating the inexplicable and seemingly inscrutable murders that wash up in Scottish waterways. Throughout the series, Annika makes the audience her confidante by breaking the fourth wall and sharing her wry observations about the case and her life as a single mother to a complex teenage daughter."
