Last Sunday, the brand new fiction series Arcadia started on both One and VRT MAX in Belgium and NPO 3 and NPO Plus in the Netherlands. Arcadia takes you to a near future, a new ideal world, where every citizen has a score that assesses quality of life.

Actress Lynn Van Royen plays the character Luz in the series. She's somewhere on the autism spectrum. Her father influences his daughter's score to protect her.
"I went to talk to parents who have a child who has some form of autism. The characteristics are so specific to each individual that I was really able to pick pieces that suited Luz. The scene with the earrings you see in the first episode see, is taken from life," says Van Royen.
"I think a coup has been committed on the dome," says Van Royen during the broadcast. "No one really knows what is going on. The dome is the oversight body. It is not clear what exactly happened, but it is clear that many victims have fallen."

In the series, Dutch and Flemish actors play side by side. "I never made any effort to change my pronunciation," says Van Royen. "It was also not necessary for my role. Luz speaks in a different way anyway. The character of my colleague Gene Bervoets, for example, has a very neat pronunciation that tends to Dutch."
In the broadcast, Van Royen also says that there will be a second season of Arcadia. "I think I can say that already. But of course I can't tell what happens to Luz."
