Start date and photos for second season of Based on a True Story released

Peacock has set a start date for Based on a True Story season two, which will be helmed by Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina. In season two of the series, Ava (Cuoco) and Nathan (Messina) have been parents for three months. Focusing on caring for her family, Ava is determined to resist her obsession with true crime and return to work as a real estate agent, while Nathan trains private tennis clients.



But a series of new murders draws Ava back. Is Matt (Tom Bateman) behind the murders? Now enmeshed in a relationship with Matt, is Tory (Liana Liberato) in danger? For a while, life is good - Ava's TikTok habit and her new girlfriend Drew (Melissa Fumero) provide a welcome distraction, and Nathan is ready to revive his tennis career and his friendship with Matt - until the danger literally strikes.

“I first discovered Based on a True Story as a fan of Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina, and I instantly loved the show’s addictive blend of dark humor, pulpy action, and relatable characters,” said Showrunner/Executive Producer Annie Weisman in a statement. “In Season 2, we’ve built on those exciting themes while introducing propulsive new character dynamics and a forward-moving murder mystery.”

In addition to Weisman, Cuoco, Messina, Jaclyn Moore, Alex Buono (who also directs), Jason Bateman & Michael Costigan of Aggregate Films and Craig Rosenberg are executive producers. The studio is UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group.

Based on a True Story season two can be streamed from Thursday, November 21. All eight episodes of season two will be released that day.
