Everything has to be bigger. The BMW must be bigger. The holiday home on the French Riviera needs to be bigger. Your 25 year younger girlfriend's tits need to be bigger. Fine of course, but those jokes cost money. A lot of money. It's no wonder that the accumulation of screeching midlife crises at the top of the corporate and banking sectors has led to an enormous mess. A housing market that turned out to be on swampy quicksand; non-functioning top men, who were promoted with golden handshakes with which you could organize an advisory referendum every month in the Netherlands and, above all, a lot of mistrust among ordinary citizens. You and me, you say. In addition to all the misery, there is also a very positive side to all that eager snapping, it is such a great source of inspiration for films. And was that successful with Amount? Not quite. The atmosphere is nice and there is little to criticize about the acting, as in most series from Danish soil, but it does not grab you as much as Forbrydelsen, Bron | Broen or the aforementioned series. The crux is mainly in the story, it is too much on the surface. The three storylines move more alongside each other than that they become intertwined. In addition, the life of the young car mechanic Nicky is completely irrelevant to the series. You could easily delete his story and invest the time gained in researching Evergreen and deepening the characters. There is also something to criticize about the latter. Borgen had Birgitte and Kasper, Forbrydelsen did it with Sarah and in Bron | Broen we lost our hearts to Saga and Martin, but after watching Amount we are left empty-handed. None of the protagonists really appeals to the imagination. I think it could have been, but then they should have invested more time in the development of the characters. With Mads, Evergreen director Alexander and the ambitious lawyer Claudia Moreno, Amount has three interesting personalities, but they don't get enough water to grow. Unfortunately. That, in combination with the plot, makes Amount to a series that is certainly not bad, but clearly draws the shortest end in comparison with its Danish predecessors.
