Trailer for Apple series Before puts Billy Crystal in a dark place

Apple's new thriller series takes Billy Crystal to an unknown place.
The multiple Emmy winner, best known for his comedic work, will star in Before, a psychological thriller premiering Friday, October 25 on Apple TV+. The streamer has released a trailer for the series, which stars Crystal as Eli, a child psychiatrist who tries to help a young boy, Noah (Jacobi Jupe), who appears to have a connection to Eli's past.

Eli also deals with the recent death of his wife Lynn (Judith Light), while the mysterious bond between him and Noah deepens. The trailer contains some disturbing images, including Noah's drawings and repeated images of bloody hands.

Before also stars Rosie Perez, in the role of Noah's foster mother, along with Maria Dizzia and Ava Lalezarzadeh.

Apple TV+ picked up Before when Crystal signed on for it in 2022. The series is produced by Paramount Television Studios in what will likely be one of the last productions to debut; the studio closed in August as part of parent company Paramount Global's deep budget cuts, and ongoing PTVS projects were transferred to CBS Studios.

Sarah Thorp created Before and is the showrunner. She produces alongside Crystal, Eric Roth, pilot director Adam Bernstein and producing director Jet Wilkinson.
