Start date second season Blindspotting

The start date for season two of Blindspotting has been set. Starz has announced that the comedy series will return in April.

Starring Helen Hunt, Benjamin Earl Turner, Atticus Woodward, Jaylen Barron, Candace Nicholas-Lippman and Jasmine Cephas Jones, the series follows Ashley (Jones) through her life after her partner is sent to prison. Season two begins nine months after the end of the first season, which ended in August 2021.

Starz revealed more about the series' return in a press release:

"Starz today announced its half-hour comedy series Blindspotting with a two-episode special premiere on Friday, April 14 and revealed several photos from its upcoming second season.

The series is co-created by Rafael Casal and Daveed Diggs. Casal also stars in the series alongside Emmy winner Jasmine Cephas Jones and Academy Award winner Helen Hunt. The second-season premiere of Blindspotting airs linearly on STARZ in the US and Canada at 9 p.m. Friday, April 14, followed immediately by episode two at 9:30 p.m. All subsequent episodes will air on Fridays at 9 p.m.

Blindspotting revolves around Ashley (Jones), who lived a middle-class life in Oakland until Miles (Casal), her partner of twelve years and father of their son Sean (Atticus Woodward), was suddenly incarcerated, leaving her to live a chaotic life when forced to moves in with Miles' mother Rainey (Hunt) and sister Trish (Jaylen Barron).

The series debuted in 2021 to critical acclaim and is still certified 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. The series maintains a light-hearted and fun tone while also tackling complex issues with a comedic and innovative twist, centering on the hilarious pranks of Ashley and her family as she tries to navigate the insane chaos of her life in the Bay Area.

Season two picks up nine months after Ashley and Miles' prison wedding in the season one finale. Ashley flips to try to raise their son alone. She reaches her breaking point and takes it out on everyone around her. Miles adjusts to life indoors and counts down the days to their first weekend visit for the family in San Quentin.

Rainey tries her best to make Ashley and Sean feel at home as she tries to find a way to stay connected to her son behind bars, but Ashley holds all the cards. Trish's new business is thriving, but she deals with jealousy issues as her best friend and business partner Jacque (April Absynth) starts dating Cuddie (Lance Holloway).

Janelle (Candace Nicholas-Lippman) becomes frustrated with Ashley's constant need for support and begins to miss her life in Bali. And then of course Earl (Benjamin Turner), himself fresh out of prison for inadvertently breaking his probation, has moved out of Nancy's (Margo Hall) home and is trying to mend his relationship with his own family and his past."

Casal and Diggs are not only co-creators of the series, but also executive producers and writers. Casal is also showrunner and director of four episodes. Jess Wu Calder and Keith Calder of Snoot Entertainment, Emily Gerson Saines, Ken Lee, and Tim Palen also serve as executive producers, with Wu Calder also directing two episodes in season two.
