Bodies (2023)

What a cool series. Time travel stories are often difficult to film. As a viewer you quickly lose the thread. That is not the case in this series. It is always very clear in which time a scene takes place. The story begins very mysteriously with the same body found in four different time periods. End of the 19th century (1890), the Second World War (1941), the present (2023) and in the future (2053). And in every era there is a detective trying to solve the murder. And in every era they encounter obstacles that suggest that there is (much) more going on than just a murder. It starts as four separate stories, but over the course of the episodes it slowly becomes clear that these stories are all connected and intertwined and are working towards a major tragedy in 2023. Or not. And that's always the nice thing about these kinds of series. The 1941 story was initially the lesser of the four. But as far as I'm concerned, that's certainly made good later in the series. It is difficult to say which of the four periods was most appealing, but for me as a SciFi enthusiast it was the story that takes place in the future. It's an interesting and good series. Less confusing than the German Dark, which has a similar premise. But just as mysterious as 1899. In my opinion, an absolute must.

It is a very fun series to watch. The beginning is slow and you have to pay attention, but after 2 episodes it becomes clearer and more fun. The writers then end the series with Maplewood as the driver of the taxi in 2023. Then you start to wonder again how Maplewood ends up in 2023 and what happened to her after her period in prison in 1890. There also remains leaves a nice mindfuck about how Mannix could be his own great-grandfather if he was never born. Nice, those mysterious endings!
