In addition, Jet Wilkinson has been tapped to direct the first two episodes of the as-yet-untitled Renee Ballard series for Prime Video. Wilkinson also directs the season finale of Bosch: Legacy, a crossover that serves as the introduction of Maggie Q as Renée Ballard.
The spin-off follows Detective Renée Ballard (Maggie Q), who is tasked with leading the LAPD's new cold case division - a poorly funded, volunteer unit with the largest caseload in the city. Ballard approaches these matters with empathy and determination. When her investigations uncover a larger conspiracy, she can count on the help of her retired ally Harry Bosch to face the dangers that threaten both her unit and her life.
The character Renée Ballard, who did not appear in either Bosch or Bosch: Legacy, is based on LAPD Detective Mitzi Roberts.
Wilkinson will serve as executive producer for Ballard, along with Michael Connelly, Trish Hofmann, Michael Alaimo and Kendall Sherwood. Henrik Bastin and Melissa Aouate produce for Fabel Entertainment, Jasmine Russ is co-executive producer.
Co-executive producers also include Jamie Boscardin Martin and Trey Batchelor, with Theresa Snider serving as co-executive producer for Hieronymus Pictures.
Season three of Bosch: Legacy is based on Connelly's bestsellers Desert Star (2022) and The Black Ice (1993). The investigation into Kurt Dockweiler's murder uncovers dangerous secrets and threatens to ruin the lives of our three main characters.
The disappearance of a family haunts Harry Bosch and forces him to confront the limits of law. In a hotly contested race, Honey “Money” Chandler is poised to become Los Angeles' next district attorney. And Maddie Bosch becomes entangled in a series of violent home robberies.
Fabel Entertainment's Bosch: Legacy is produced by Michael Connelly, Eric Overmyer, Tom Bernardo, Henrik Bastin, Pieter Jan Brugge and Titus Welliver.
Q is known for her starring roles in Netflix's Designated Survivor and The CW's Nikita. She had other leading roles in CBS's Kevin Williams series Stalker and Fox's comedy series Pivoting.
Wilkinson most recently served as executive producer and director for the Apple TV+/Paramount TV Studios series Before starring Billy Crystal. She also served as producer/director on Percy Jackson and the Olympians for Disney+ and directed the finale of Avatar: The Last Airbender (2024).
