Bosch: Legacy - Season 2

Seasoned detective Harry Bosch is fed up with the laws, regulations and bureaucracy that come with the job due to the events in the original Bosch series. He continues to fight crime as a private detective.

I had the honor of writing a review of the complete Bosch series. For those who have read it, it may not have been noticeable, but I could hardly contain my enthusiasm. I have called Bosch a gem among crime series and that is no lie. I was curious whether the spin-off series Bosch: Legacy can maintain the level of the original series. After a great first season, the second season continues to be a treat.

Bosch: Legacy continues where Bosch left off. Former detective Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver, Deadwood) starts a new phase as a private detective. His daughter Maddie (Madison Lintz, The Walking Dead) tries to build her own career with the police. She is regularly confronted with her father's past, which can sometimes have far-reaching consequences. The brilliant criminal lawyer Honey 'Money' Chandler (Mimi Rogers, Bosch) is also present. With her excellent knowledge of the legal system, she calls the established order to account. Finally, Harry is assisted by Maurice 'Mo' Bassi (Stephen A. Chang). He is an extremely valuable partner to Harry due to his hacking skills.

After the events at the end of the first season, this season begins with a race against time for Harry to protect his loved ones. But there is also a new case in which Harry and Honey try to prove that the police arrested the wrong man for murder, while a few shady vice officers show a high degree of interest in the case. Maddie struggles with the aftermath of her traumatic experience and must learn to deal with it before it starts to affect her career.

Watching Bosch: Legacy, you are immediately submerged in the atmosphere that made the original series so good

The course of this series would have fit in perfectly with the original series, so the spin-off feels like true a continuation of Bosch. The career switch to private detective does bring a nice new dynamic. Harry still gets himself into trouble regularly by confronting criminals. The difference is that he can no longer ask for backup from the police and has to call the emergency line, for example. In addition, he can't just look at files of cases he's working on and sometimes has to get creative with the help of some of Mo's hacking skills.

The chemistry between the characters remains incredibly good. It ensures that you as a viewer really empathize with the experiences of the characters. Titus Welliver is still great as Harry Bosch. He continues to portray the perfect mix of toughness and humanity. I also liked that the character of Mo got a storyline in this second season. This helped him develop into a more fully-fledged character, not just Harry's sidekick.

Watching Bosch: Legacy, you are immediately submerged in the atmosphere that made the original series so good. Intriguing crimes, of which you as a viewer don't know where they're going, enough room for character development, fun guest roles that make an appearance, and the choice of music that completes the picture. For Bosch fans, it's a feast of recognition when Harry calls on old acquaintance Jerry Edgar. In addition, the now retired duo Crate and Barrel pass by, and with their comments they once again put a smile on your face.

Bosch: Legacy continues where Bosch left off. The series brings fascinating murder cases to life, with storylines of high quality. The makers do not lose sight of character development. As a result, Bosch: Legacy equals its predecessor as a gem among crime series. The third season will be released this year and I can't wait to see what Harry Bosch has in store for us next.
