Dodd (pictured center) takes over the role of Francesca from Ruby Stokes, who played the elusive Bridgerton sister in the first two seasons of the wildly popular Shondaland period drama, based on the novels by Julia Quinn.
The new photos, which follow Colin and Penelope's season three first-look photo release in June, provide a glimpse of all but the eldest Bridgerton siblings. Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor), the subject of season one, left the series as Dynevor after season two.
Because Regé-Jean Page, who played Daphne's love interest Simon Basset, did not return for season two, fans never got to see the Basset couple again after their happily ever after in the first season's finale. That won't happen with the love couple Anthony and his Kate (Simone Ashley), the subject of season two.
As the new photos show, Anthony and Kate will be back next season and their romance is as strong as ever.
The photos Netflix released today also include a season three poster that plays on Penelope's social status in the first two seasons with the tagline "Even a wallflower can blossom."
Part 1 of the new season of Bridgerton, consisting of four episodes, can be streamed from Thursday, May 16, followed by part 2, the other four episodes, on Thursday, June 13.
Here's the synopsis: Penelope has finally given up her long-held crush on Colin after hearing his disparaging words about her in the previous season. However, she has decided that it is time to get a husband, preferably one who will give her enough independence to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, away from her mother and sisters. But due to a lack of self-confidence, Penelope's attempts at the marriage market fail spectacularly.
Meanwhile, Colin has returned from his summer travels with a new look and a serious sense of swagger. But he is discouraged when he realizes that Penelope, the one person who has always appreciated him for who he was, is leaving him out in the cold. Eager to win back her friendship, Colin offers Penelope to coach her on self-confidence so she can find a husband this season. But when his lessons start to work a little too well, Colin is forced to question whether his feelings for Penelope are truly amicable.
Matters for Penelope are complicated by her breakup with Eloise (Claudia Jessie), who has found a new boyfriend in a most unlikely place, while Penelope's growing presence in the barrel makes it all the more difficult to keep her Lady Whistledown alter ego a secret.
