Showmax unveils trailer for South African series Catch Me a Killer

Showmax has unveiled the trailer for Catch Me a Killer, a series about South Africa's most famous serial killer profiler.

The series, which is produced together with Germany's Night Train Media, starts next month and stars Charlotte Hope (The Spanish Princess) as Micki Pistorius.

The ten-part series is based on Pistorius' memoir of the same name and follows the recently graduated forensic psychologist as she tracks down South Africa's most feared killers. Each episode features a different case, from the Cleveland Killer to Stewart “Boetie Boer” Wilken, taking viewers across the country. Separately, Showmax recently launched a series about Boetie Boer, who caused a massacre in Port Elizabeth in the 1990s.

“Catch Me a Killer is the true story of South Africa's first serial killer profiler,” said Hope (pictured), who starred in the historical series The Spanish Princess as Starz's Catherine of Aragon and appeared as Myranda on HBO's Game of Thrones.

SAFTA winner Amy Jephta (Barakat, Devil's Peak) is the head writer, alongside Sarah Hooper (Shameless), Jessica Ruston (Harlots) and Oliver Frampton (Casualty).

Abacus Media Rights is handling international sales.

Showmax, owned by MultiChoice, recently relaunched and a new app will go live next month.
