Dermot Mulroney cast in Chicago Fire as Fire Chief

Dermot Mulroney has been cast in NBC's Chicago Fire as Chief Dom Pascal for the upcoming thirteenth season.
Wolf Entertainment's hit firefighting drama is adding a new series regular following the departure of Eamonn Walker, who played Battalion Chief Wallace Boden for twelve seasons. He left at the end of season twelve.

No official details have been revealed about Mulroney's character (pictured). Yet, according to sources, Dom Pascal began his career at the Chicago Fire Department but has spent the last decade as chief in sunny Miami. Pascal is described as a cheerful person who works well under pressure and whose leadership style differs from Boden's. He is also estranged from his wife.

Before Boden was promoted to deputy commissioner of the Chicago Fire Department, he had chosen Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) as his successor. The introduction of Dom Pascal would derail that plan, and Eigenberg shared earlier this month why Herrmann would pass on the opportunity.

"I want to say he felt like the rug was pulled out from under him, because I don't think Herrmann saw what the Chief was saying to him coming at all," he shared. "In real firefighting, there are firefighters who stay firefighters their entire careers. So when you become a lieutenant, you're not called a firefighter. You're still a firefighter, you're just not called that anymore."

He continued, "With Herrmann, I think he would have been content to just be a firefighter. If they decide to make him an officer, that's great because he can lead, but I don't know if there was an organic natural progression for the character to take that position. So we'll have to see how the writers handle it."

As for Boden, there are rumors that he might return to Chicago Fire to show off his new uniform. It's all a wait-and-see, but there are possibilities for how it could all play out, with good opportunities for Walker to return as a guest star.

Chicago Fire also stars Taylor Kinney, Miranda Rae Mayo, Joe Miñoso, Christian Stolte, Daniel Kyri, Hanako Greensmith, and Jocelyn Hudon.

Executive producers are Dick Wolf, Andrea Newman, Matt Whitney, Reza Tabrizi, and Peter Jankowski. The series is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, in association with Wolf Entertainment.

After his role in season two of ABC's Station 19, Mulroney is returning to a firefighter drama. The veteran actor with extensive roles in television and film was recently cast in Starz's The Hunting Wives .

Other television roles include Marvel's Secret Invasion, HBO's The Righteous Gemstones, and Netflix's Arrested Development .
