Chucky revolves around the red-haired doll that we know from the well-known horror films. This time, Jake (Zackary Arthur) finds the doll at a garage sale and soon discovers that the doll is alive and possessed by the soul of infamous serial killer Charles Lee Ray. Chucky decides to help Jake stand up to his bullies and abusive father.
Additionally, a series of flashbacks explore Charles' past as a seemingly normal boy who somehow became one of Hackensack's most notorious killers. Starring mainly teenagers and promoted as a 'coming of rage' story, the series tackles themes of sexuality, bullying and murder.
Netflix has announced that it has purchased the rights to Chucky and will make the series about the well-known horror doll available next month.
After the successful first season, it was soon announced that Chucky would also get a second season. Three seasons have now been made, with a total of 24 episodes. There is currently no green light for season four, but if it is up to protagonists Fiona Dourif and Brad Dourif, that sequel will certainly happen: "If season four comes, it will be even crazier."
The series was created by Don Mancini and is produced by Mancini and David Kirschner.
Chucky can be seen on Netflix from Saturday 1 June. It has not yet been confirmed whether all three seasons will be online at the same time. Earlier this year, Netflix added another top horror series, From, to its lineup, which unfortunately also only debuted on the streaming service with one season. It is therefore likely that Chucky will also only have one - at most two - seasons.
