Italian Citadel spin-off announced by Prime Video

Last week, Prime Video confirmed that there will be a second season of the Citadel series. Now, the streaming service has revealed that an Italian spin-off series, titled Citadel: Diana, is coming in 2024.Citadel, a spy thriller series, stars Richard Madden, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Stanley Tucci, Olegar Fedoro and Lesley Manville. The story revolves around agents who once worked for Citadel, an independent global espionage agency. The organization was tasked with maintaining the safety of all people. Eight years ago it was destroyed by agents of Manticore, a powerful syndicate. Members of Citadel reunite to stop Manticore from establishing a new world order.

A teaser for the spin-off was shown during a post-credits scene of Citadel's season one finale.

With Matilda De Angelis (The Undoing), Lorenzo Cervasio (Doc - Nelle tue mani), Maurizio Lombardi (The New Pope), Julia Piaton (Glacé), Thekla Reuten (Warrior Nun), Daniele Paoloni, Bernhard Schütz (Barbarians) and Filippo Nigro (Suburra - La serie) in the lead roles, the spin-off Citadel: Diana was shot in Italy earlier this year. The spin-off takes fans back to the Citadel spy world after the shocking events of the Citadel finale.



Prime Video revealed more about Citadel: Diana in a press release:

"Today Prime Video announced the title of the next chapter of the Citadel Spyverse, Citadel: Diana, and revealed a first look at Matilda De Angelis as the central character in the upcoming series.

The finale of Citadel's first season, starring Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, premiered May 26 on Prime Video. The first series in the Spyverse franchise concludes the first season with huge twists and unnerving revelations. Citadel's agents discover the identity of the mole that brought down the agency at the hands of rival syndicate Manticore. Treachery will be exposed and questions will be answered, while the fallout from the finale sends ripples that will be felt throughout the Spyverse. After the final episode, a post-credits teaser of Citadel: Diana shows a thrilling look at what's to come as the Citadel Spyverse expands with the next chapter.

Citadel: Diana was created, produced and filmed locally in Italy and production concluded earlier this year. The series comes from Cattleya (ZeroZeroZero) - part of ITV Studios - and showrunner and executive producer Gina Gardini, with Riccardo Tozzi, Marco Chimenz and Giovanni Stabilini serving as executive producers and Emanuele Savoini as co-executive producer. AGBOs Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Mike Larocca, Angela Russo-Ostot, Scott Nemes and David Weil (Hunters (2020)) are the executive producers of Citadel: Diana and all series within the Citadel universe. Midnight Radio produces Citadel: Diana and all other series in the Citadel universe.

Citadel: Diana is directed by Arnaldo Catinari and developed by Alessandro Fabbri, who is also the lead writer and co-wrote the series with Ilaria Bernardini, Laura Colella, Gianluca Bernardini and Giordana Mari. It was previously announced that the cast, in addition to Matilda De Angelis, consists of Lorenzo Cervasio, Maurizio Lombardi, Julia Piaton, Thekla Reuten, Daniele Paoloni, Bernhard Schütz and Filippo Nigro.
