Deirdre returns from Bournemouth after having a wonderful time. Bet realises that there's nothing she can do to save Gloria's job. Ken receives letters from the public criticising the Council trip. He decides to print some in the Recorder. Jenny's friends throw a surprise engagement party for her. Betty tells Bet that she'll work lunchtimes only so Gloria can keep her job. Alec agrees. Susan tells Mike she thinks that she's pregnant. He is overcome with emotion.
