Dallas (2012) - Season 1

The historical series from the 80s continues with a whole new generation of Ewings; John Ross (Josh Henderson, Desperate Housewives, 90210), son of JR Ewing (Larry Hagman) and Sue Ellen (Linda Gray), and John's nephew Christopher (Jesse Metcalfe, Desperate Housewives), adopted son of Bobby (Patrick Duffy) and Ann (Brenda Strong, Desperate Housewives). Christopher and John Ross punch each other in the face and stab each other in the back.

John Ross can't take his eyes, and hands, off the oil and Christopher's girlfriend, Elena. Supported by his father, he will do everything to get the lead on Southfork and thus the oil. The battle is on. Christopher on the other hand, is looking for alternative fuels. He has the support of his father Bobby. The battle from the 80's is continuing all through season one, and it's not just the battle between Christopher and John Ross. It's all about who gets Southfork and the oil that's hidden in the ground.

Not only new actors get a part in the 'new Dallas', there's also room for the cast from the 80s. J.R., Sue Ellen, Bobby and Cliff Barnes are all played by the original actors. In the first episode we see members of the old cast making an appearance at a party (and they are sometimes recurring in a guest role like Lucy and Ray).

The first episode I watched was an instant trip down memory lane. The tune is still the same and it's so nice to see J.R., Bobby and Sue Ellen again.

If you wonder whether an immensely popular series like Dallas can make it in the year 2012, the answer is: YES! Even though the people have grown older, the eyebrows of J.R. have grown longer and the wrinkles of Sue Ellen have deepened; Dallas is and will always be timeless.

Meanwhile in the USA, they have started filming season two. During filming Larry Hagman died. He is, was and will always be the man behind Dallas. His sense of humor is amazing and his gaze still can excite the ladies. The first season of Dallas was a success in the USA (over seven million people watched the premiere). To me, Dallas was a success also, because of the nostalgia and the sexy looks of Josh Henderson.
