Episodes will be available early on AMC+ starting Thursday, July 27, with new episodes added every Thursday. The second season is produced by AMC Studios and consists of six episodes.
A. Martinez (Longmire) joins this season as Valencia County Sheriff Gordo Sena, while Joseph Runningfox (The Politician (2019)) will play Henry Leaphorn, Lt. Joe Leaphorn.
Also returning this season is Deanna Allison (Accused (US)) as Emma Leaphorn and Elva Guerra (Reservation Dogs, Rutherford Falls) as Sally Growing Thunder. All join the previously announced Jeri Ryan (Star Trek: Picard, Bosch), who plays Rosemary Vines, and Nicholas Logan (Dopesick, Creepshow), who plays Colton Wolf.
In the run-up to the second season, viewers can watch the series on AMC+. The first episode can also be watched for free on the AMC+ YouTube channel.
This season, Lt. Joe Leaphorn (McClarnon) finds himself with Jim Chee (Gordon), his former deputy turned private investigator, when their separate cases bring them together in pursuit of the same suspect. Set in the high desert of Navajo Country, they pursue a killer who has set his sights on them to protect a secret that rips old wounds and challenges Leaphorn's moral and professional code. With the help of Sergeant Manuelito (Matten) and Valencia County Sheriff Gordo Sena (Martinez), Leaphorn and Chee must foil their would-be killer and restore balance not only to their own lives, but to the reservation that depends on them.
Dark Winds is based on the Leaphorn & Chee book series by Tony Hillerman and was created by Graham Roland (Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan, Fringe). John Wirth (Hell On Wheels, Hap and Leonard) is the showrunner. The series is produced by Roland, Wirth, McClarnon, Robert Redford, George R.R. Martin, Anne Hillerman, Chris Eyre, Vince Gerardis and Tina Elmo.
