Trailer for German big-budget thriller series Der Schwarm

The trailer of Frank Doelgers Der Schwarm, the German drama that will premiere at the Berlinale, has been released.

Today's trailer showcases the environmental thriller in all its glory. It begins as strange events happen around the world: whales destroy boats, deep-sea crabs attack beaches, mussels block container ships, and an unknown ice worm destabilizes continental slopes and causes tsunamis. A group of scientists, realizing something bigger is at stake, must then come together to undertake a perilous mission.

The series is a huge undertaking. The cast includes Alexander Karim (Advokaten), Cécile de France (The New Pope), Leonie Benesch (Babylon Berlin) and Joshua Odjick (Three Pines) and executive producer of Game of Thrones Doelger is also an executive producer here. The large-scale series is based on a novel by Frank Schätzing.

Der Schwarm

Der Schwarm will premiere later this month at the Berlinale Series, part of the EFM, alongside HBO Max's Spy/Master, Silver Bear winner Zhang Dalei's Why Try to Change Me Now and Stan's Australian series Bad Behaviour. It is produced by Schwarm TV Productions GmbH & Co KG, a joint venture between Intaglio Films and ndF IP for ZDF, France Télévisions, Rai Fiction, Viaplay Group, Hulu Japan, ORF, SRF, in co-production with Bravado Fiction and Beside Production , in cooperation with ATHOS KG. Beta Film and ZDF Studios are responsible for worldwide sales.
