Dexter - Complete series

I heard from many people that Dexter was a good series. I had never seen the series myself, so I was very curious about the series. I already knew what the series was about. Previously I had already seen two seasons, but for no reason, I stopped watching. I wanted to watch Dexter again and now I wanted to finish the series. I always like it better when series have fewer seasons, because eventually I am done with the series, often I want to watch another series or I find it too long-winded and I automatically stop watching. I was afraid this would happen to Dexter too, but luckily it didn't. I've seen all eight seasons of Dexter and I don't regret it at all.

Dexter Morgan (Michael C Hall, Six Feet Under) works as a blood spatter investigator for the Miami Police Department. Dexter has a wife, Rita Bennett (Julie Benz, Hawaii Five-0) and together with Rita he has two children. Dexter's father Harry Morgan (James Remar, Gotham), is Dexter's adoptive father and the real father of Debra Morgan (Jennifer Carpenter, Pound puppies). Debra also works with the Miami Police Department. In addition to Debra and Dexter, the Miami Police Department team also includes Maria La Guerta (Lauren Velez, OZ), Superintendent, Angel Batista (David Zayes, OZ), Vince Musaka (CS.Lee , True Detective) and Joey Quinn (Desmond Harrington, Gossip girl). Together they solve several murders. Dexter has a very special role in this.



Dexter is an American series from 2006. It is based on the books by Jeff Lindsay. The series ended after eight seasons in 2013. In Dexter you follow Dexter, a forensic blood spatter investigator with the Miami Police Department. Dexter is a serial killer outside of work. In order not to handle this "deviation" too badly, Dexter has learned from his adoptive father to only kill the people who deserve it. For example, murderers who have not received their normal punishment. Dexter also learned not to get caught as a serial killer. In the series you mainly see how Dexter struggles between his urge to kill and leading a normal life. Dexter has been made for eight seasons with twelve episodes each season.

I especially find the role of Dexter very interesting. His whole struggle with his urge to kill but on the other hand also wanting to live a normal life, as a father, with a wife and children. You soon find out in the series that Dexter has been damaged considerably by his past, so you also understand his murderous urge much better. I can't see Dexter as a bad person who kills. Although I don't approve of his behavior, I do understand it, and wonder what I would be like if I had experienced a similar traumatic event. I keep wondering for a long time if anyone ever found out their secret or not, and what would happen then. Would he go to jail? Would they pretend Dexter was innocent, etc.



I did notice that after six seasons I started to find the series tedious. As I described in the beginning, after many seasons I kind of lose interest in a series, which unfortunately also happened with Dexter. Almost every season has a serial killer at its center and ends much the same way. All in all, I enjoyed this series. Not only did I find Dexter an interesting character, but also his sister and many of the team at the Miami Police Department. The series is full of fascinating dialogues and I can tell that the series does not let you go quickly.
