HBO shares premiere window and new mysterious trailer for Dune: Prophecy

HBO has released the latest teaser trailer for Dune: Prophecy, the new television series set 10,000 years before the events of Dune.

Dune: Prophecy is based on the book Sisterhood of Dune by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. According to an official synopsis, the series "follows the Harkonnen Sisters as they battle forces that threaten the future of humanity and found the legendary sect known as the Bene Gesserit."

The cast includes Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Camilla Beeput, Sarah Lam, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Mark Strong, Jade Anouka, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina and Chris Mason.

The new teaser trailer shows the early days of the Bene Gesserit and a lot of scheming for power in space.

Creator and executive producer Diane Ademu-John would serve as co-showrunner until it was announced she would be stepping down in 2022. Alison Schapker then became the sole showrunner and executive producer.

Anna Foerster, John Cameron and Richard J. Lewis are the series' directors. Jordan Goldberg, Jon Spaihts, Scott Z. Burns, Matt King, Cait Collins, Cameron and Foerster produce with Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt and Kim Herbert for the Estate of Frank Herbert. Anderson is co-producer and the series is produced in association with HBO Max and Legendary TV.

Villeneuve's first Dune film was released on HBO Max and in theaters in 2021. Even with its simultaneous release on streaming, the film grossed just under $400 million worldwide. The most recent installment in the series, Dune: Part Two, released on March 1, has grossed more than $700 million at the box office worldwide. It was the highest-grossing film of the year until it was surpassed by Pixar's Inside Out 2.

The six-episode season begins in November on HBO. Watch the teaser trailer below.
