Empire actor Terrence Howard cast in Peacock's Fight Night about Muhammed Ali

Terrence Howard stars opposite Kevin Hart and Samuel L. Jackson in the Peacock limited series Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist.

Fight Night tells the infamous story of how an armed robbery on the night of Muhammad Ali's historic comeback fight in 1970 changed not just one man's life, but the fate of an entire city.

The project reunites Howard (pictured) with Craig Brewer, who will direct and produce the first two episodes of the series. The pair previously worked together on Brewer's 2005 feature Hustle & Flow, in which Howard played the lead role and earned an Oscar nomination for his performance; and on the Fox series Empire, also starring Howard, for which Brewer served as director-producer.

This also marks a return to Peacock for Howard, who recently appeared in the limited series The Best Man: The Final Chapters, the first Peacock original to break into the Nielsen Top 10 streaming rankings.

Howard will play the series regular role of Richard "Cadillac" Wheeler, a gangster and operative of the Council of Twelve.

One of the actor's upcoming projects is John Ridley's Netflix film Shirley, starring Regina King as America's first black congresswoman, Shirley Chisholm.

Fight Night was created and written by Shaye Ogbonna based on the podcast of the same name from iHeartPodcasts, Doghouse Pictures and Will Packer Media. Ogbonna and Jason Horwitch serve as showrunners.

They co-produce with Hart, Bryan Smiley and Mike Stein for Hart's Hartbeat, Packer and Sabrina Wind for Will Packer Media, Conal Byrne, Will Pearson and Carrie Lieberman for iHeartPodcasts, Jeff Keating and Lars Jacobson. Hartbeat's Tiffany Brown and Studio 43's Kenny Burns will co-executive produce. The series comes from Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.
