Ghosts is being renewed for a fourth season by CBS

CBS is looking for more laughs after giving the supernatural comedy Ghosts an early renewal for a fourth season.

It is the latest renewal for the Paramount-owned network, which earlier this week also gave a third season to Fire Country and last week the Justin Hartley series Tracker a second season.

Ghosts

Based on the BBC's British comedy, Ghosts has been a success for CBS since its launch in 2021. The third season is averaging over ten million viewers in live 7-day multiplatform viewing, which is a slight increase from last year, and streaming numbers are up on Paramount+, where the company said it was the number one comedy in February.

The move gives some continuity to the CBS comedy series for next season, as two of the longer-running series, Young Sheldon and Bob Hearts Abishola, are coming to an end.

Elsewhere on the comedy front, the network has ordered a spinoff of Young Sheldon, starring Montana Jordan and Emily Osment, and is launching Poppa's House starring Damon Wayans later this year.

The Neighborhood also started its sixth season last month, but there is no news yet about a renewal for that series.

The early decision to renew the series could also allow the network to plan ahead for a possible IATSE strike.

Ghosts stars Rose McIver and Utkarsh Ambudkar as a couple who inherit a dilapidated mansion in upstate New York that they decide to convert into a bed and breakfast. After a near-death experience, McIver's character is suddenly able to see ghosts inhabiting the house.

Brandon Scott Jones, Richie Moriarty, Danielle Pinnock, Asher Grodman, Román Zaragoza, Sheila Carrasco, Rebecca Wisocky and Devon Chandler Long also star.

The series is produced by Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, who serve as showrunners, Trent O'Donnell, Jay Karas, Matthew Baynton, Jim Howick, Simon Farnaby, Laurence Rickard, Ben Willbond and Martha Howe-Douglas, Alison Carpenter, Debra Hayward, Alison Owen and Angie Stephenson.

The series is produced by CBS Studios in association with Lionsgate Television and BBC Studios' production arm in Los Angeles. It was recently revealed that the deal between BBC Studios and Lionsgate, which produced Ghosts, recently ended.

CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach called Ghosts a "proven viewer favorite."
