For a while, it seemed as if The Walking Dead would never end. Turns out, it is. The previously announced eleventh season will be the final season of The Walking Dead.

But, it's not going to be the last we've seen of Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride (photo). AMC has decided to greenlight a spin-off featuring the two fan favourites Daryl and Carol. The yet to be named spin-off will be created by showrunner Angela Kang and Scott M. Gimple. It is expected to begin its run in 2023.

An announcement came that the delayed season finale of the tenth season will air on the 4th of October as a special. In 2021, ten extra episodes of the season will be released. The final eleventh season will have 24 episodes and will be divided over two years.

But there's more to reveal from the land of the walking dead. Next to the previously mentioned spin-off, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, Fear The Walking Dead and the three movies that are still upcoming, there will be another series. An anthology series called Tales of the Walking Dead. It will be an episodic series, and it will likely focus on individual characters from the clearly expanding Deadverse.
