Are you also hopelessly dedicated to Grease? We can now report that the previously announced Grease spin-off has received a name - Rydell High - and has been moved to Paramount Plus.

Back in October 2019, we reported that a spin-off to the popular musical Grease would soon enter production. HBO and Paramount would be working together on this project.

The prequel series will now be known as Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies and it will be a one-hour-long musical dramedy. In the new series - which moved from HBO Max to Paramount Plus -, we will witness the arrival of The Pink Ladies and how they changed Rydell High. In the original movie, this group consisted of Rizzo, Jan, Marty and Frenchy. At a later point, Sandy would join.

Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies comes from Annabel Oakes and was originally granted a series order by HBO Max and Paramount. In August, Casey Bloys was promoted to Chief Content Officer for HBO and HBO Max and he decided to discontinue the project. The spin-off will premiere on Paramount Plus, a soon to be redesigned version of the current CBS All Access service.
