HBO has ordered The Last of Us (2021), which is a series adaptation of the game with the same name that released in 2013.

The events in The Last of Us (2021) take place in modern society twenty years after the world has been ruined. In this world, Joel has to help a fourteen-year-old girl escape from an oppressive regime. To survive, they have to trust each other. It is not yet known how many episodes have been ordered or when the series is set to release on HBO.

The series has been written by Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) and Neil Druckmann (creator of the game). Both will also serve as executive producer, alongside Carolyn Strauss (Game of Thrones). The series will be produced by Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, Word Games and Naughty Dog. Earlier this year, the sequel to the original game was released. It sold more than 4 million copies in the first three days.
