The writer of A Black Lady Sketch Show will write and executively produce the American remake of Timewasters.

The single-camera comedy comes from CBS Studios and ABC is developing the remake of ITV's jazz comedy Timewasters. The original was created by Daniel Lawrence Taylor, who also portrayed a character. It had a total of two seasons on ITV2 in the UK. In 2018, it was nominated for a BAFTA in the category Best Scripted Comedy next to Chewing gum, Catastrophe and the BBC mockumentary This Country, which will also receive a remake but at FOX.

The American adaptation will revolve around four black New Yorkers who accidentally end up in the year 1926, despite them not being excited about time travelling. The series shows the clumsy attempts of the four to survive and thrive in the Harlem Renaissance, as it also investigates what it means to be black in 2021, what it meant to be black in 1926 and the unique experience of being black in both periods.

The ABC project doesn't yet have a title and it is not known who will be part of the cast or when the production is set to begin.
