It is expected that I May Destroy You is not going to receive a second season. from HBO and the BBC.

I May Destroy You had lower ratings than other HBO series, but it was nominated for various awards. Even though lower ratings don't necessarily result in a cancellation, it does appear to be the case for this series.

Casey Bloys, the content chief for both HBO and HBO Max, said, “Michaela Coel (Black Earth Rising) is thinking about what she wants to do next. I don’t think there’s going to be another I May Destroy You, there’s no season two coming. But she’s thinking about what she wants to do next and hopefully, we’ll be lucky enough to partner with her again.”

Michaela Coel as Arabella Essiuedu

Next to Coel being the creator of the series, she also portrays the main character. The series revolves around the successful Arabella Essiuedu. After being sexually abused in a nightclub, Arabella is forced to face her entire life; her career, her friends and even her family. As she is struggling to accept what happened, she starts a journey of self-discovery.
