Julie Plec will adapt the Vampire Academy books by Richelle Mead into a series with the same name for Peacock.

Vampire Academy combines the elegance of aristocratic romance and the supernatural excitement of the vampire genre. The series revolves around two young women who differ quite a bit from each other. They are both preparing for the end of their education so that they can enter the royal vampire society.

The series is based on the books with the same name by Richelle Mead. Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries, The Originals) will adapt the books alongside Marguerite MacIntyre (The Vampire Diaries). Peacock has ordered ten episodes. According to Plec, it is a dream come true. “When I signed my new deal with Universal Television, they asked what project I had always been dying to make and my immediate answer was Vampire Academy,” said Plec.
