Quibi was a special streaming service that focused on short quality series, which could be watched on a smartphone. Unfortunately, the streaming service didn't manage to survive for longer than six months. Earlier this year, it was revealed that Roku - a free platform that is supported by advertisements - will be taking control of the Quibi series. These will be released as Roku originals. On the 13th of August, 23 more originals will be released. This includes Mapleworth Murders, The Stranger (US), Survive and Wireless.
On the 30th of May, a couple of the first series released on the streaming service. Later this year, it is expected that more series will release. According to Roku, the Quibi series that were released earlier have resulted in a big viewer boost at Roku. “The investment in Roku Originals is already paying dividends,” said Colin Davis, Roku’s head of original scripted programming, who was previously a senior content executive at Quibi.
