Apple's hit series Ted Lasso will officially return for a third season in March, according to a released teaser trailer.

Ted Lasso's third season consists of twelve episodes and begins after the shocking events of the season two finale. Newly promoted AFC Richmond are being ridiculed as the media predicts they will finish last in the Premier League.

In the wake of Nate's (Nick Mohammed) controversial departure from Richmond, the new 'prodigy' has joined Rupert (Anthony Head) at West Ham United. Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) succeeds Nate as Richmond's assistant coach, alongside Beard (Brendan Hunt). Ted (Jason Sudeikis) continues to deal with the pressures at work and his personal issues at home.

When we reunite with Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham), she's focused on beating Rupert, and Keeley (Juno Temple) is in the process of running her own PR firm. Things seem to be falling apart both on and off the field, but Team Lasso is going to give it their all.

After the premiere of the third Ted Lasso season on Wednesday, March 15, new episodes will appear every Wednesday.

The series also stars Jeremy Swift, Phil Dunster, Brendan Hunt, Toheeb Jimoh, Cristo Fernandez, Kola Bokinni, Billy Harris and James Lance.

The vision for Ted Lasso from the beginning was that it would last three seasons, but that was before it became a fan-favorite series and an award-winner. The first and second seasons won the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series, with additional statuettes for the cast and creators.

So it would make sense for Warner Bros. Television Group and Apple, who are behind Ted Lasso, to continue the series. But viewers will struggle to find anyone to answer for the series' future.

Channing Dungey, chairman and CEO of WBTV, would only say in an exclusive interview with Deadline on Monday that season three "ends nicely."

“If that is all we do in the Ted Lasso universe, I think the fans will be really happy and excited. But there’s also a way to crack open a door. If we’re fortunate enough to do more, we can keep on going,” she teased.

Developed by Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Joe Kelly and Brendan Hunt, the project is based on NBC Sports' pre-existing format and characters. Lead actor Sudeikis also serves as an executive producer alongside Lawrence through his Doozer Productions, in association with Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television, a division of NBCUniversal Content.

Hunt, Kelly and Bill Wrubel also produce with Doozer's Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer. In addition, Jane Becker and Jamie Lee also serve as executive producers. Actor Goldstein writes and co-produces.
