A certain agent returns to the case for the 2023-24 television season. ABC has renewed Will Trent for a second season.

The Will Trent series is based on the book series by Karin Slaughter and stars Ramón Rodríguez, Erika Christensen, Iantha Richardson, Jake McLaughlin and Sonja Sohn. The thirteen-episode first season ends on Tuesday, May 2.

The story follows Special Agent Will Trent (Rodríguez) of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI). As a loner, he has the highest clear-up rate in the GBI and can dissect a crime scene like no other. Will was abandoned at birth and endured a traumatic childhood in Atlanta's overcrowded foster care system. Despite his personal challenges, he is determined to use his unique perspective to ensure that no one is left behind like he is.

Angie Polaski (Christensen) and Michael Ormewood (McLaughlin) are both detectives for the Atlanta Police Department, but come from very different backgrounds. Faith Mitchell (Richardson) is Will's new partner in the GBI and was born into a law enforcement family. Amanda Wagner (Sohn) is the head of the GBI and Will and Faith's boss.

The extension was confirmed today by ABC, via social media:

After the renewal, Rodríguez wrote, "Thanks to all fans for your continued support of this special series! Excited and honored to continue donning that three-piece suit and thanks to our amazing cast, crew, writers, producers, directors and everyone involved in making making this series what it is!!! Thank you @karinslaughterauthor for making this amazing series. Betty... get ready!"
