True Lies, an action series based on the famous 1994 movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis, stars Ginger Gonzaga, Steve Howey, Erica Hernandez, Omar Miller, Mike O'Gorman, Annabella Didion and Lucas Jaye.
The story follows Harry Tasker (Howey), a bland and unremarkable computer consultant who is secretly a top-notch international spy for Omega Sector. His wife, Helen (Gonzaga) is a language professor who is bored with her daily routine. One day she makes the shocking discovery that her seemingly ordinary man leads an extraordinary double life. Now that the secret is out, his agency hires her and she impresses everyone with her formidable skills, thanks in part to Tae Bo and yoga. Working together with Harry's team, the couple adds much-needed spice to their emotionally separated marriage and changes the top secret world of Omega Sector.
The first season of True Lies, which airs on Wednesday evenings, scores an average of 0.24 in the 18-49 demographic and 2.61 million viewers. It is the network's lowest-rated scripted series and, outside of 48 Hours (which airs late on Saturday nights), CBS's lowest-rated program. In the live+7-day viewing figures, True Lies gets almost 70% more viewers. Even with that increase, it's still one of the network's lowest-rated scripts.
The series' survivability has also been damaged because the series is produced by 20th Television, an outside studio.
The last two episodes will air on Wednesday, May 17. Here's a description of the series' finale, 'Waking Dreams': The entire agency searches for clues while an Omega Sector spy goes missing. Harry and Helen's relationship with each other, their team and reality itself is tested beyond imagination, even for the best of spies and husbands.
East New York, another drama series from an outside CBS studio, was also cancelled.
