AMC's Interview with the Vampire season two has paused production due to the actors' strike, despite being filmed outside the US with a largely international cast.

Rolin Jones' gothic horror television series has been filmed mainly in Prague since April. The series stars the British Assad Zaman, Jacob Anderson and Delainey Hayles, the Australian Sam Reid and various Americans like Eric Bogosian.

Some US projects filming abroad with a largely international cast, such as HBO's House of the Dragon, were able to continue despite the strike, but AMC confirmed that Interview with the Vampire has dropped production, some of which stars are SAG members. House of the Dragon and fellow HBO series Industry fall under the British actors' union Equity rather than SAG.

Interview with the Vampire is based on Anne Rice's 1976 novel, which spawned into a 1994 film starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. The series follows the vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac (Anderson) as he recounts his life with his creator Lestat de Lioncourt and teenage vampire Claudia to veteran journalist Daniel Molloy, accompanied by the ancient vampire Armand.

The first season was well received by critics and the series was renewed for a second season before the premiere of the first season last October. Gran Via Productions, Dwight Street Book Club and AMC Studios are the producers.

The actors' strike was ratified on Thursday and, buoyed by the months-long writers' strike, Hollywood appears to have come to a virtual standstill. However, there is news of projects exempted by the union, such as the upcoming film Bride Hard starring Rebel Wilson and the Christian series The Chosen, the latter of which will be filmed in the US. It is widely expected that the exemptions will largely apply to indie films, as most American series are made with a studio.
