Miri's story has come to an end. Back to Life has been canceled, so there will be no third season of the BBC series. Showtime aired the series in the United States.

Back to Life is a British dark comedy series created by Daisy Haggard and written by Haggard and Laura Solon. The series stars Haggard, Geraldine James, Richard Durden, Adeel Akhtar, Jo Martin, Jamie Michie, Christine Bottomley, Juliet Cowan and Imogen Gurney.

After eighteen years behind bars, Miri Matteson (Haggard) returns home and enters adult life in the seaside town she once knew. The mystery of her past continues to haunt her and she forms a friendship with Billy (Akhtar), who cares for the elderly neighbor.

The second season picks up three weeks after the first season's finale and Miri continues to reconcile with her past as she tries to assimilate and build a new life for herself after her captivity.

The second season of Back to Life, airing Monday nights on Showtime, averaged a 0.01 in the 18-49 demographic and 33,000 viewers in the live+same day ratings (including all DVR viewing until 3 a.m.) . Compared to the first season, that's a 78% drop in the demo and a 77% drop in viewers in the live+same day ratings (including DVR viewing until 3am). It was the lowest-rated scripted series on the channel.

In the October 24th episode of the Out To Lunch with Ade Edmondson podcast, Haggard said, “It feels really sad to kill Back to Life, but I think the story is done … I’ve got so many things I want to do. I’ve got two or three film ideas that I’m really excited about.”
