The Fraser clan continues to grow as Tony Curran (Your Honor (US)) has joined the Starz prequel series Outlander: Blood of My Blood.

Production on the new series, a prequel to the hit Starz series Outlander, recently started in Scotland. The original series stars CaitrĂona Balfe as Claire Fraser and Sam Heughan as her husband, Jamie Fraser. The franchise is inspired by the work of Diana Gabaldon, who serves as consulting producer on both series.

Curran (pictured) has been cast as Lord Lovat, Jamie Fraser's grandfather, in a regular role.

This is Curran's second series currently planned for Starz. In addition to the Outlander prequel, he stars as King James I in Mary & George, opposite Julianne Moore and Nicholas Galitzine, who portray the mother and son who are conniving social climbers.

The seven-part limited series, premiering on Friday, April 5, is inspired by the scandalous true story of a treacherous Mary and George Villiers who plotted, seduced and murdered to conquer the court of England and the bed of King James I.

Last year, Curran also appeared in the second season of Your Honor (US) with Bryan Cranston alongside the ten-part investigative drama series The Calling written by David E Kelly and directed by Barry Levinson.

Other roles include the film Outlaw King opposite Chris Pine, Florence Pugh and Aaron Taylor Johnson, the Showtime drama series Ray Donovan and the film version of the Emmy-winning HBO drama Deadwood.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood explores the lives and relationships of Jamie's parents, Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) and Claire's parents, Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine). The ten-episode series revolves around the two parallel love stories set in two different time periods, with Jamie's parents in the Scottish Highlands at the turn of the 18th century and Claire's parents in England during the First World War.

Matthew B Roberts will serve as showrunner and executive producer for the series. Ronald D. Moore and Maril Davis, who developed Outlander for television under their production boss Tall Ship Productions, will also produce the series alongside Roberts and Story Mining & Supply Company.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood is produced by Sony Pictures Television and will be available on all Starz platforms in the US and Canada.
